OpenTown.org

OpenTown would be a system for modular based games using open source tools and standards. I think this would be a great way to evolve tools and talents. Code. Game software would have a game that lets players load levels, avatars, and vehicles that use OpenTown. The game would parse each chosen file chose by the player and determine if it has the parts for that game, like football goals, start and finish points, AI driving hints, or shop locations, and let the game be played with those assets, if compatible. Levels. Levels are made with X3D and include generous amounts of tags for different ways game are played. A stadium could have tags for soccer game, a first person shooter, a mountain bike race, a tycoon game, or something like Little Computer People. The level could be a ship, shopping center, a town, a factory, a dense forest, or anything else. Avatars. The player characters should be in X3D and interchangeable between games. The X3D standard has provisions for avatar animation. Vehicles. There should be tags in levels with player and AI hints for driving, walking, climbing, and in-line skate rails.
