This is a very original idea with real potential. The only downside I can see is if the player doesn't have an internet connection for their game console. Luckily, more and more people are hooking their systems up online more and more each year.

I don't think that she's simply picking the top-voted ones. Otherwise I'd have been her first pick instead of Zombie Run (which was in third at the time of selection). I don't think Morgan would do that. I've seen her and Sessler take some very popular games- Madden is a favorite target- and rake them over the coals if they deserve it. But even so, votes are at least a preliminary measure of how your game might do on the shelves. Remember you're getting voted on by other gamers. You may not be able to prove a positive because yes, someone may be cheating, but you can prove a negative. If you have a brilliant idea, but only have one vote- your own- that's probably a sign.
See, whatever the idea, the truly groundbreaking games must both be original and popular. The games that end up getting the various Game Of The Year awards are never underrated cult hits like Beyond Good & Evil. They're the triple-A juggernauts of the year. Bioshock. Grand Theft Auto. Halo. Smash Bros. X-Play has given the little guy a 5 out of 5 at least once- Ghost Master from 2003 is the one that sticks in my mind- but when it came time to give out Game Of The Year, they went straight to Knights of the Old Republic and never looked back. That's what I think we're trying to find here: the next triple-A juggernaut.

Most games have people thinking about how to make the game more user friendly and make sure that there levels are actually possible to beat that won't be possible with this game which will aggravate more then just a few ppl. And to the latest comment from Aaron, i think she is just picking the top voted ones but it just could be me being cynical again. That's why I told the guy who had made Cheaters thing(one of the new ideas, not really an idea) to make a mediocre idea up for a game and then cheat to make his game the best then i will wait and see if i was correct about this pattern.

I do like this game concept quite a bit. I would be worried about things like the weather or the NASDAQ affecting things like stats however. I suppose if there's a boss that is just impossible on one day, because it's cold in your town and webbalert.com had a bunch of hits, you could just wait for a better day to try for him. Still, as a gamer it would be a little frustrating to have to wait and watch live feeds before you can continue.

I do like the concept, but all things consider it would have to be balanced very carefully.

Well, Morgan seems to like it, and in this competition, ultimately that's all that really matters. Congrats for the selection.

Ok, for the lack of nearly any form of gameplay I'm surpised that this has reached 126 on Wednesday, February 20th at 3am (central time). That aside they did this with the Counter Strike weapons on....Counter Strike and it didn't blow over well. I think it would be interesting to see, but I just don't see anything that interests me gameplay wise. I'm with Brent on this one, sorry.

That comment about weather got me thinking too. Since people are more on their computers or playing video games when the weather's bad outside, how about making the game easier or more enjoyable somehow when its raining or snowing or something? It could even be more annoying when the weather is good, to discourage people from playing too much when they should be outside.

So what youre saying is if the data, whatever the data is, decreases it makes the bosses easier then before? If you do that the game could turn from easy to impossible which wouldn't be too much fun at all. If this data is irrelevant to what you are doing than why should you have it change the game? The game wouldn't be consistent enough when you're doing things. I don't like it sorry.

I agree it's a good idea, and I emailed a bunch of people about this site and my idea, it seems they agreed with me. Just think of the flexability of this concept. Any game could be fueled by the events and changes in the world around us. One of the hardest challenges game designers face is creating interesting content that stays interesting. This would be one way to fuel that need without spending time actually creating more content. And if it bothers you so much have them pull it, I got plenty more ideas where that came from!
